[1] The track Mathematische Augen (Mathematical Eyes) was produced in 2006 and first appeared on MySpace. The compilation of tracks by Black Replica released on the Berlin label metaphysik originated from Detroit. The project’s creators are the somewhat mysterious Heinrich Mueller, an alias for Gerald Donald, “and at least one other so far unidentified female.” Donald is a techno producer known for his work as Drexciya. “Heinrich Mueller” is the embodiment of a pronounced Germanophilism – the lyrics are all in German – that brings together elements of playwright Heiner Müller, expressionist silent film and the music of Kraftwerk: “But with no commerce taking place and no artefacts to collect; the act just existing as music and video files on third party web portals with only the barest title information to stoke the imagination I think they may here have struck on the perfect medium for creating mystery.” http://drexciyaresearchlab.blogspot.com/2006/11/black-replica.html

[8] In March 2018 the carsharing service Oply shut down its service in Germany. Oply’s parent company, Examotive S.A., which is based in Luxembourg, claimed at the time to have 510 vehicles on the road in Munich, Hamburg and Berlin and more than 60,000 clients. “Despite high customer demand and strong growth in all three cities, the round of financing required to continue operations did not materialize”, was the explanation given. One of Oply’s investors is the Chinese car manufacturer SAIC. The growing role of investors and venture capital firms within the “old” industries is even bothering Volkswagen.
