Slutty Urbanism is a collective comprised of Letizia Chiappini, Anastasiya Halauniova and Ying-Tzu Lin.
Letizia Chiappini is a PhD candidate in Urban Studies (UrbEur Doctorate) at the University of Milano-Bicocca and at the University of Amsterdam (joint doctorate). In her PhD research, she proposes the concept of ‘urban digital platform’ as a theoretical lens to analyse platforms oriented to support grassroots initiatives and counter-practices. It is a comparative analysis based on four years of extensive fieldwork in Milan and Amsterdam. In other ongoing projects she investigates practices such as critical making and maker-spaces. Starting from initial engagement with artist communities in Milan and Amsterdam. She writes for various media sources on digital platforms, activism and alternative urban spaces.
Anastasiya Halauniova is a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at the University of Amsterdam. Her PhD dissertation 'Beauty that Matters' examines practices of maintenance and aesthetic evaluation of architecture in post-socialist cities. Anastasiya's research interests lay at the intersection of cultural sociology, urban studies and science and technology studies. Outside of the academic bubble, Anastasiya is a digital activist writing for various media sources on such issues as the feminist city and capitalist afterlives of the socialist urban space.
Ying-Tzu Lin is a PhD researcher at the Department of Human Geography, Planning and International Development, University of Amsterdam. Ying-Tzu is the founder and editor of Eyes on Place. Born and raised in Taipei, she currently lives in Amsterdam. In between her studies, she worked with education/pedagogy organisations, planning consultancies, volunteering in the music scene and wandering in cities. She enjoys and cares about cities, public spaces and the politics between them. In recent years she has worked on topics around street markets, child friendly urban environments, and feminist geography.
