Last year Seth Eisen, an artist, performer and researcher, organised a series of walking tours (Out of Site: SOMA) bringing up the mostly unknown queer history of the last 200 years in San Francisco. The walking tours brought up stories about the ways in which built and social environment(s) have been experienced by queer people; the way these environments existed as spaces to hide from , or spaces of resistance, before the gay liberation.
The project was a total success. by guiding people to the queer community through streets and locations, walkers experienced an immersive environment with the characters of that time.
In 2020, Seth intended to re-propose the experience by creating new walking tours and disclosing more history. Due to the current pandemic, the walking tours have been translated into a virtual experience, which was not completely satisfactory.
His desire is to invent ways in the coming year of being together with other people in the street in a performative situation where we can encounter and return to some sense of intimacy.
