Daniel Cardoso Llach, Architect and Author

Daniel Cardoso Llach is Associate Professor of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University. He is the author of publications, exhibitions, and artefacts examining the nexus of design and computation from a socio-technical perspective. His book Builders of the Vision: Software and the Imagination of Designis a study of the intellectual history and contemporary practice of computer-aided design systems. His research has been supported by the Graham Foundation and the Social Science and Humanities Research Council from Canada, among others. His writings have been published in Design Issues, Architectural Research Quarterly (ARQ), Thresholds, URBAN OMNIBUS, among others, and in edited collections including The Active Image: Architecture and Engineering in the Age of Modeling (Springer 2017) and DigitalSTS: A Handbook and a Fieldguide (Princeton 2019). He also co-edits the Design, Technology and Societybook series with Routledge.
