“WHISPER. Status Code: No Entity Found” exposes the libidinal power of technocapitalism. In Gerald Nestler's lyrics, the performative turn of data-driven capital/markets addresses us directly. Its seductive speech, which evades representation, is set to rhythm and sound by Sylvia Eckermann who also animates its fleeting surface. A depthless plane of interwoven recalibrations, its intricate pattern is profoundly ruptured only when a crash cracks open an abyss from which eventually it bottoms out again into a new ‘surphase’ of complex iterations.
Computer voices strike up the digital hip hop of futures. Contingent swings define the imagery. Volatility smiles through escalating fat tails whose impact defeats all probability. The global, urban platform, WHISPER announces, is based on a derivative paradigm. First introduced in finance but ubiquitous today, its incessant and pervasive data-driven exploitation constitutes the "recombinant social DNA" of the body politic. We are the object of desire: "Oh baby! How you nourish me!"
